Daniel's Harry Potter stunt double David Holmes shared the following video message from Daniel on his instagram in promotion of his memoir called The Boy Who Lived which is available now. He mentions that there are things in the book that they haven't added in the documentary, which has the same name.

The Hudson Theatre got a visit from the Merrily We Roll Along trio: Daniel, Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez. It has been months since their last performance back in July. I love how they recreate the pose of the photo. 👇💖

Update: 22nd November 2024. I assume this photo was made on the same night. Visiting the comedy musical Once Upon a Mattress, at the Hudson Theatre until 30th November.

It was already added on IMDb, but wasn't mentioned anywhere else. Until now. Total Film has posted an interview with Jesse Eisenberg which adds that "Along with Eisenberg, the movie also sees the return of Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, Morgan Freeman, and Daniel Radcliffe, with Ariana Greenblatt, Dominic Sessa, Justice Smith, and Rosamund Pike joining the line-up."

No official confirm of it so far from the production companies but I am gonna assume that it's true now they mention it too now. Now You See Me 2 with Daniel's debute as Walter released back in 2016.

Now You See Me 3 has wrapped production but the plot detail remains under wraps. The release is currently scheduled for 13th November (NL) and 14th November 2025 (US and UK).

Yesterday Daniel attended the opening night after party for Erin Darke's new Off-Broadway production of the play Vladimir at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City. Photos of them both posing below.

Maggie Smith, well known for her role as Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter, has died. She also had a role together with Daniel in the BBC series David Copperfield. She was the one who after Davis Copperfield in 1999 recommended him for the role as Harry. She died peacefully at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London her sons confirmed in a statement to the BBC.

Daniel has paid tribute to the actress (source: variety).

"The first time I met Maggie Smith I was 9 years old and we were reading through scenes for David Copperfield, which was my first job. I knew virtually nothing about her other than that my parents were awestruck at the fact that I would be working with her. The other thing I knew about her was that she was a Dame, so the first thing I asked her when we met was “would you like me to call you Dame?” at which she laughed and said something to the effect of 'don’t be ridiculous'!. I remember feeling nervous to meet her and then her putting me immediately at ease. She was incredibly kind to me on that shoot, and then I was lucky enough to go on working with her for another 10 years on the Harry Potter films.

She was a fierce intellect, a gloriously sharp tongue, could intimidate and charm in the same instant and was, as everyone will tell you, extremely funny. I will always consider myself amazingly lucky to have been able to work with her, and to spend time around her on set. The word legend is overused but if it applies to anyone in our industry then it applies to her. Thank you Maggie.”

Converse worn and signed by Daniel as Charley in Merrily We Roll Along is one of the items who are currently up for pre-bidding ahead of the Broadway Flea Market on 22nd September. The event will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA). The leading bid for the sneakers is currently $1,700 USD. The outdoor event runs from 10 am to 7 pm.

For the online bidding check the items from the silent auction below which will be held in Shubert Alley. It closes online on 20th September.

Update: 19th September 2024. The Hudson Theatre has some exclusive items which will be available. Plus I missed this item: revival and original cast signed "Merrily" album, plus signed vocal selections (and another one added below).
Update: 24th September 2024. The top-selling silent auction lot was a pair of sneakers worn onstage and signed by Daniel Radcliffe, which raised $11,500.

Time flies! It's 23rd July today which means that Daniel turned 35 today. Happy Birthday!

However he is going to celebrate, I hope he has a marvelous day. It looks like he is taking some time off currently to enjoy his family.

Hodder & Stoughton will release the memoir from David Holmes who was Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double. It will have the same name as the earlier released documentary, The Boy Who Lived. 

Written by Matt Allen and foreword by Daniel Radcliffe. It will be on sale in the UK on 14th November 2024. It will also be available as e-book and audiobook.

Holmes said: "This book will be full of triumph and tragedy, just like my life up until this point. Detailing many behind-the-scenes stories that have not been told from my time on the Potter films, as well as some of the lessons and hardships I’ve endured since breaking my neck, I’m very grateful to be alive and to be able to tell my story.”

The synopsis

As Harry Potter's stunt double, David Holmes's amazing gymnastic skills saw him earn onscreen immortality. He was the first-ever person to play Quidditch on a broomstick; he dodged dragon's fire and dove deep into the Great Lake, without any gillyweed to protect him.

Life on set was an adventure. He and Daniel Radcliffe became like brothers, and the cast and crew a second family. Then tragedy struck. During the making of Deathly Hallows Part 1 a stunt went badly wrong and David's spinal cord snapped. He was only 25 and would never walk again.

Sixteen years later, the pain can still be excruciating, his muscles are wasting, and he requires round-the-clock care. His future may seem bleak, but David has accepted his new reality, with all the different possibilities, purposes and powerful human connections that have come with it. This candid and inspiring story shares his life before and after, showing us the importance of making the most of every day, and the good that can come out of even the worst of circumstances.

How to Succeed was your first musical on Broadway. Merrily is your second. What was your experience with singing and dancing before these shows?

I took singing lessons for the first time when I was on Equus because in the first scene of Equus, I sing advertising jingles, and I couldn’t do the tune of any of them. My singing teacher was like, “Everybody in the audience is over a certain age, and they know what these should sound like, so you really should hit these notes.” So I started working with him for that. How to Succeed and Merrily have been two of the best experiences of my life — but one every 10 years is a good rate for me because it’s hard!

I only added this in a Facebook story sometime ago, I first saw it as a private occasion, but also decided to add it here now since more photos have appeared online, also posted by the couple themselves. Lindsay Mendez's wedding with J. Alex Brinson took place in New York on 22nd April and Daniel was the ring bearer. There's also a photo via people.com. Below photos via The New York Times.

“It was really nerve-wracking because, until the day before [the wedding], I wasn’t the ring bearer, then Lindsay thought it would be funny because I’m the ring bearer in the show,” the actor, 34, told Variety.
