BBC Worldwide announced yesterday that A Young Doctor's Notebook, the highly acclaimed Big Talk drama based on the memoirs by Mikhail Bulgakov, has been sold ahead of its official launch at BBC's Showcase 2013 to Germany (RTL Passion), Russia (RenTV), Spain (Wuaki.tv), Israel (Yes), Turkey (Dogus Yayin) and across Latin America (HBO). The series has been a huge success in the UK, as Sky Art 1's highest performing series to date.

Daniel Radcliffe, who stars as the young doctor, said, "I'm immensely proud of A Young Doctor's Notebook - I'm a Mikhail Bulgakov obsessive - and this is one of the most interesting and original projects I've had the pleasure to work on. To hear that the series is travelling far and wide makes it all the more valuable to me and I'm sure for Clelia, Kenton, Jon and everyone fortunate enough to be involved in creating it."

BBC Worldwide's Director of Drama, Caroline Torrance added, "To have two brilliant actors in the leading roles in Jon and Daniel and Big Talk on board as producers, it is clear A Young Doctor's Notebook will appeal to a number of audiences everywhere. The drama is completely unique and is on course to become a must-see classic." BBC Worldwide Showcase is the largest event of its kind hosted by a single distributor. In this, its 37th year, over 700 of the world's most important TV buyers are attending the event in Liverpool.

Update: 10th May 2013: It is announced that the US also will be able to see AYDN this summer! Ovation acquired the rights via BBC Worldwide and will broadcast the series some time this fall.

"As a cause-based media company dedicated to the arts, Ovation is the perfect home for such a rich visual adaptation of this classic literary work," said Robert Weiss, Ovation's chief creative officer. "It's an honor to deliver work from artists as passionate about this project as Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe."

I have posted the video by Bad Teeth before (Do you remember the "I have Danny Dyer on my ******* phone” part?) and they now released a part 2 featuring Daniel calling Danny on YouTube.

Everyone's favourite East End wideboy Danny Dyer tells us a few secrets about his successful career. He also punches our runner Jake, has an argument with Daniel Radcliffe, and swears. A lot (don't worry, we bleeped it)

I posted before that Daniel had done a photoshoot for Out magazine, some pictures from the shoot and the interview where he talks about Kill Your Darlings, Equus, Horns and more have been released online. This issue is out on newsstands 25th February.

Horns: “After we wrapped the film, we spent about 45 minutes by the camera truck -- me, our script supervisor, and some of the camera guys and some of the grips, just standing around talking about how much we had loved working with this director.” He pauses for breath, before concluding, “Now that doesn’t happen very often.”

It is announced that Daniel will star in a special segment at the 85th Academy Awards, marking his first appearance at the show. Daniel will join Charlize Theron, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Channing Tatum and other stars on 24th February broadcast (ABC, 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM. PT). The producers of the Oscars have released this information.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – The Oscars will feature special appearances by Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron, Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Daniel Radcliffe at the upcoming Awards ceremony.

“We are quite excited to have Charlize, Chan, Joe and Dan join us on the show,” said telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “We are happy to feature them as special guests in our production.”
This will be Gordon-Levitt, Radcliffe and Tatum’s first time appearing on the Oscar show

They also mentioned HP and never been on the Oscars:

We were bewildered," says Zadan. "How can you have the biggest franchise in motion-picture history, Harry Potter, and yet no one has ever been on the Oscars? (It) was strange to us.''
