KD : Hi Daniel!
DR: Hi!

KD : Are you at all like the character of Harry Potter?
DR:  In some ways, I think everybody is, because Harry has so many different sides to him.  I think, me personally, we're both very curious and I think sometimes our curiosity gets us into trouble.  Also, like Harry, I'm not afraid to stand up for myself and do what I believe in and I think that's one of Harry's most important traits.

KD : What does your family think about you being Harry? 
DR:   They're really excited.  Especially my mom and my dad, since they're really involved with me.  Some people think that I never see them, which is completely untrue because my dad chaperones me every day.  They're really excited about it.

KD :  What do you like best about playing Harry? 
DR:   I think one of my favorite parts is just basically knowing Chris because he has been a complete inspiration to me over the past few years and has given me a love for film, so I have a lot of respect for him and I think he's one of the coolest guys I've ever met.

Dan greeted the audience and introduced himself in Japanese ("I've been practising that for quite a long time!", he told the cheering crowd) and said

It's absolutely fantastic to be here in Japan while at the same time promoting a film that we're all very proud of.  There's not really much more to say than that I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.

How did you like the action scenes in "Chamber of Secrets"?
The action scenes for me were so much fun. In the scene when I'm hanging out of the car window, that was actually me, I was hanging 25-30ft up in the air, and it was just really cool. I do as many of the stunts as possible, although obviously there are some I can't do.

I have always said that CHAMBER OF SECRETS was my favourite but I have recently reread PRISONER OF AZKABAN and I think that has now taken over the number one spot. I think my favourite character has to be Sirius Black.

I never get tired of filming not when I am working with Chris Columbus who just makes me laugh all the time. Chamber of Secrets has been an fantastic experience.

I would like to see myself as happy as I am now and having as much fun as I am now.

Yes I was born in London and am growing up in this city. London is always busy. It is a place that you can never be bored in as there are always so many things to do.

HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING... WELL BEING HARRY POTTER?
It feels cool!

I REMEMBER HEARING THAT YOU MAY NOT GET THE CHANCE TO PLAY HARRY IN THE UPCOMING MOVIES AND WANTED TO KNOW THE TRUTH.
No-one can predict what is going to happen to these films in the future so I dont even think about that. The most important thing for me is to live in the moment doing the best possible job I can do playing Harry and enjoying myself.

DO YOU WANT TO BE THE ACTOR WHO PLAYS HARRY POTTER IN ALL THE POTENTIAL MOVIES?
That's a difficult question because that is in the future and I dont know how I will feel about playing Harry in the future. I take one film at a time and enjoy that experience.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN TEN YEARS.
Absolutely no idea. I am interested in so many things - who knows what path I will follow.

WHAT'S BETTER, CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA ICE CREAM?
Actually my absolute favourite dessert is vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.

Daniel makes a guest appearance on the DVD-rom entitled Mind Reading: the Interactive Guide to Emotion. The DVD-rom uses a cast of over 30 actors to demonstrate the facial expressions and vocalizations associated with 412 distinct emotions.

Developed by researchers at the university of Cambridge Autism Research Centre, it is primarily an educational tool for people with autism spectrum conditions who have difficulty in recognizing emotions but also claims to be a useful resource for anyone interested in the dramatic arts who needs to study human emotions.

About the DVD-rom
Dan appears in the Famous Face game in the Games Zone section of the DVD. Users can "control" Dan's emotions with a slider to demonstrate the facial and vocal expressions within three emotional ranges: happy to sad, friendly to angry and delighted to disgusted. (Apparently you can turn the speech off if you don't want to hear Dan react to being offered the squid!)

About the Game with Daniel
This is a game called "Famous Face" about emotion intensity with world-famous actor Daniel Radcliffe (who kindly donated his performance in aid of Mind Reading). Daniel Radcliffe introduces emotions with positive and negative intensity.

1. Choose the sort of emotions you want Daniel to feel using the three buttons: ‘Happy or sad’; ‘Friendly or angry’; ‘Delighted or disgusted’.
2. Use the intensity slider to choose how strong an emotion Daniel feels. The intensity of the emotion goes from –3 to +3. You can choose whether to hear Daniel’s voice or not by selecting ‘On’ or Off ’ at the top of the screen.
